For years the ultimate in photographic material was the 35mm SLR camera. This camera gave the photographer complete control over his image by changing exposure factors, lens, or both. Even professional photographers have made their living with these type cameras. Then came the digital age. You can listen to all kinds of stories of cameras that cost thousands of dollars, and often not too slow. Magazines show ads of smaller digital cameras that cost a fraction of what the professional models cost, but simply do not know ..??? Maybe not buy a digital camera until I can afford one of those big ..
I can tell you that digital SLR cameras offer a choice of lenses. They also have controls that allow you to choose a speed faster or slower speed, if you prefer. They are equipped with sensors that can improve the quality of your image, and can reduce the noise recorded. There are many other great features of Digital> Reflex 's, but I have no space to write all. I can say that if you're serious about photography, to control the camera and not just taking pictures, then perhaps you should research further in the kind of digital SLR cameras. I spent 2 months to check out different models until they finally bought my Canon Rebel XT I.. I love it! Has many more bells and whistles than I could ever use, however, gives me the creative control I want. The decision is avery personal choice, so go with what they think will best serve now and in the future.
That said, I mean that I owned 2 smaller digital cameras before I bought my camera from Canon. Many of the advanced compact cameras have large stores of them. I have owned 2 Kodak Easyshare digital cameras. One was a 3.2 megapixel camera and the other was a 4.1 The image quality of these cameras when shot at low ISO is very close to what the Canon camerahas. EI am serious! I blew up 3 pictures that I shot with the camera 3 MP to 14 x 17 and was simply amazed at the detail of those images. The Kodak camera is smaller, lighter and certainly cost much less. I still carry that camera with me every time I go out, along with the Canon. Sometimes there are shots that are difficult to reach and the little camera is very useful. It 'always nice to have along. I know some other photographerssay the same thing.
So if you are going through a difficult time deciding whether to buy a digital SLR or a small digital compact camera, I hope that this information has helped some. Personally, I think that helped me to start with the cameras smaller and feel for the camera. And 'different from the film, and will require some' adjustment. I did not think I would have done the transition, but now that I have … I do not regret it for a second!
